There’s no point in me trying to devise my own ingenious method when the perfect personal auditing guide already exists in the form of the KonMari Method. Marie Kondo founded her love for organization young & has been at it professionally since the very beginning of her adult life.
Her renowned career has brought her an internationally viewed blog & YouTube channel, a #1 NY Times best-selling book, a verified Instagram & Twitter with nearly 3 million followers combined, a Netflix documentary, and her own consultant agency. In interviews, she explains keeping her home & life neat is just her way of life. Japanese culture has always been historically minimalist from architecture to interior design. She believes her success among Americans specifically is because “the United States has seen a rise in mass consumption and urbanization, leading to a ‘more is better’ mindset,” but she believes “that a shift toward mindfulness is occurring.” She said she thinks “people’s interest in the KonMari Method coincides with these cultural changes in American society” (source).
