Brandless Review Part II

Brandless is this amazing online store that I’ve gushed about in the past & you can read all about here. In the post Brandless, I briefly went over what I did & didn’t like, but didn’t offer much more than that. Here I wanted a more thorough review of my purchases. This is a lengthy post, but hang in for the long haul for a surprise at the end!

Since I’ve talked about Brandless, they’ve expanded so much & for the better. They’ve added Pet & Baby aisles to the store & Contrary to their initial business model, their (individual) products range from $1.50-$16, with pre-selected bundles ranging from $12-$56, with built in savings as opposed to buying all included items separately.

Even though their prices are going up, so is their range of products & the quality, in my opinion, hasn’t faltered at all. In this post I will include a brief review of everything I’ve bought (for myself) on Brandless since the beginning.

KEY:
Italics means it was gifted out
Underlined means it’s a repurchase
Bold means it’s a staple & highly recommended
(Info in parentheses may explain certain purchases)

June 2018 (Going on a Cruise)

Facial Lotion

Rate: 3/5 Why? It’s “unscented,” which is nice in terms of being artificial fragrance free, but the scent it has on its own isn’t neutral enough to want on my face everyday. It’s hard to explain, but it wasn’t my thing.

$3.00
Grapefruit Facial Scrub

Rate: 5/5 Why? I am a sucker for physical exfoliants, especially in the summer time. (They’re not for everyone, do your research for you skin type) I used to love Neutrogena’s grapefruit facial scrub, but Brandless takes the cake here on quality & cost.

$3.00
Green Tea & Aloe Body Wash

Rate: 3/5 Why? This one confuses me. It’s advertised as “Green Tea & Aloe,” like the Shampoos & Conditioners are, but they aren’t listed as ingredients on the Body Wash. Instead, Tea Tree & Oat Kernel extracts are. I also prefer a much more moisturizing formula as I have very dry skin.

$3.00
Green Tea & Aloe Moisturizing Shampoo

Rate: 2/5 Why? My hair felt clean, but stripped. I’m very picky about hair care, so this is an easy pass for me.

$3.00
Green Tea & Aloe Moisturizing Conditioner

Rate: 3/5 Why? My hair felt better after using the conditioner, as opposed to how it felt after just having used shampoo, but still wasn’t the feel I usually go for.

$3.00
Green Apple Facial Toner

Rate: 5/5 Why? It’s a great, affordable toner. You get a lot of product for the price, as compared to other brand’s toners. + I LOVE green apple & it smells amazing.

$3.00
Recipe Cards – 50 Count

Rate: 5/5 Why? I bought a recipe card holder, but needed cards that were more ones it came with, but less than the ones I was finding on Amazon. These fell right in between fashion & function. I love them!

$3.00
Dark Chocolate & Peanut Butter Bar – 3 Pack

Rate: 1/5 Why? Not a fan… LOL. But, I know people who would love these. In my opinion, they are too grainy. I thought the chocolate / PB combo would help, but for me it did not. Oh well!

$6.00
Cocoa Granola

Rate: 4.95/5 Why? I love this granola, but only suggestion is more chocolate!
$3.00

Organic Teriyaki Beef Jerky

Rate: 5/5 Why? I’ve recently learned to love beef jerky, especially teriyaki varieties. But, the big name brands (that are the best) are soooo expensive, even per unit. That’s where Brandless comes in. I just wish they sold it at 7-Eleven

$6.00

Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil Spray

Rate: 5/5 Why? Good, high quality EVOO & the continuous spray dispenser is so convenient for dressing salads or pre-greasing pans. Mid-width even spray, without clogging.

$3.00
Mini Shortbread Cookies

Rate: 4.95/5 Why? They’re so good my dad ate the first bag i bought, whole, before I could even try them! I re-ordered & my only complaint is about how flaky the recipe makes them – very messy.

$3.00

Mocha Fudge Coffee Bar

Rate: 1/5 Why? Similar to the Chocolate PB bars from earlier, these Mocha ones aren’t my style. The graininess is too much for me, personally, but I think the same thing of many granola bars that others love.

$3.00
Cranberry & Cocoa Brown Rice Crisps

Rate: 5.5/5 Why? These are so amazing. I am so mad they don’t make them all the time.

$3.00

Everything Pretzel Thins

Rate: 3/5 Why? After buying them as a gift, I decided to give them a try myself. They were very toasted, making some hard to eat. Unfortunately, I forgot to clip the bag shut after trying them out the first time & they got stale. I wasn’t mad though because they aren’t my favorite pretzel thins.

Rate: 5/5 Why? There’s a reason why this is a “community fave.” It’s good coconut oil at a good price. I hope they offer bigger sizes in the future, like they do with Brandless Organic 100% Honey.

Makeup Removing Grapefruit Facial Wipes

Rate: 5/5 Why? Loved them as make up removing wipes & facial cleansing wipes. Nice scent, durable material. Definitely reordering, but going to buy other wipes until I have enough in my Brandless cart to fill an order.

$4.00
Hydrating Rosewater Facial Toner Spray

Rate: 5/5 Why? When I saw the beauty product launch, I knew I had to get this spray. I love anything that spritzes, especially when it comes to skin care. For me, the more hands free the better. Right now, I keep this in my beach bag & it’s super refreshing between laying on the beach and hitting the boards.

$5.00
Lemon Verbena Body Scrub

Rate: 4/5 Why? I bought it as a gift and decided to try it for myself, but it isn’t my favorite scrub. It is very loose, but not oily – which I think I’d rather prefer.

$5.00
Plant Based Pet Wipes

Rate: 5/5 Why? They get the job done & smell good. My cat is partial outdoor & loves to roll in mud / dirt when it’s time to go back inside, so rather than combing or bathing him, he gets a quick wipe once over & he’s good to go.

$4.00
